Being in the party decorations business, we move in circles where we constantly hear people say that they’ve already done everything that could be done, and there’s nothing innovative they could do anymore, and we continuously see those people being proven wrong.
This is especially true when it comes to kids’ birthday parties.
And today, we decided to be the ones that prove YOU wrong, if you thought that there’s nothing you didn’t do to celebrate your child’s arrival on this world.
Here’s one party theme you might not have thought of before: space.
In the past few years there have been some celebrities that used this theme for their (grand)children’s birthdays, but generally, people don’t think they can pull off organizing a space-themed bash, without splashing out on decorations.
However, we’re here not only to tell you that this is not true (at least not every time), but also to show you how you can organize a super-duper celebration and cut back on expenses at the same time.
Here’s what you have to do.
The number 1 way of reducing the costs of organizing the party is finding new ways to do things that have been done.
For example, it’s most likely that you have prepared a food table for some occasion before so that that idea would be nothing new. However, you can make it into something innovative if you think of a way to add a twist to traditional table set up.
In the case of a space party, you can prepare some small sandwiches cut into different shapes like stars, planets, rockets, or alien heads and place them around a sun of cheese and a moon od sweets.
This is something that you can do yourself and will not raise your budget in any way since you will be using what you will have available anyway: food ingredients.
Add Some Decor
Of course, you cannot do everything yourself, and for some parts of the organization, you need to get external help. So, even if you try to save, you should be prepared to buy decorations, as it will be hard to do them yourself.
If you’re organizing the party on a shoestring, then just getting one banner that you will place centrally on the wall above the table will do. The important thing is to state the theme clearly, and this banner does just that.
However, if you have some money to spare, then we recommend that you get a couple of other space themed props such as invitations, canvas art, and of course, let’s not forget the best friend of memories – selfie frames.
Create an Agenda
Kids’ birthday parties are more difficult to organize since kids are more honest than adults, and you will see it clearly if they’re not having fun.
So, you need to put all your heart into creating activities that will be attention-grabbing and fully engaging. We propose that you think of some do-it-yourself activities, as everyone loves DIY.
You can either engage them in creating space-themed art, and paint their own galaxies, or shape them out of non-hardening modeling clay, or maybe do a “create your own spaceship” challenge, and make them make their own sandwiches. If you choose the latter, then you should find a way to set up the “space” on the table that we talked about in the first point, using the ingredients the guests would need for the activity.
And there you have it: the three foolproof steps to creating a birthday party that’s out of this world, both literally and figuratively.
